    Bopanna-Qureshi in US open third round

    India's Rohan Bopanna and Aisam ul Haq Qureshi of Pakistan defeated Michael Kohlmann of Germany and Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-4, 6-4 to advance into the US Open doubles third round.

    Bopanna and Qureshi, seeded 16th, will next face second-seeded Daniel Nestor of Canada and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia.

    In mixed doubles, India's Leander Paes and Zimbabwe's Cara Black, seeded second, moved to the second round defeating Czech Republic's Lucie Hradecka and Frantisek Cermak 6-4, 7-5 Friday.

    In junior boys' qualifying singles first round, Pavel Krainik of Canada got the better of Indian Sai Kartik Nakireddi 6-3, 7-5.

    India's Rakshay Thakkar also went down to Diego Galeano of Paraguay 2-6, 4-6 in the boys singles first round qualification.

    In the junior girls section, Rishika Sunkara of India lost to Gabrielle Desimone of US 4-6, 2-6 in first round qualifying.
