Bopanna-Qureshi enter US Open doubles finals

The Indo-Pak pair of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi have reached the US Open men's doubles final at Flushing Meadows.

The duo defeated unseeded Argentine pair of Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zeballos 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 on Wednesday, The Dawn reports.

It's the best showing for the 16th-seeded pair in a Grand Slam after a quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon earlier this year.

Bopanna and Qureshi have competed together off and on since 2003, and their pairing started drawing notice this year after they launched their "Stop War, Start Tennis" campaign, with the slogan printed on their warmup jackets.

"Obviously, it feels like us doing well is getting the message across throughout the world and among all the Pakistanis and Indians," Qureshi said.

"I've always said if me and Rohan can get along so well on and off the court, there's no reason the Indians and Pakistanis can't get along with each other," he added.

Bopanna and Qureshi will now face Friday's final against Americans Bob and Mike Bryan, also straight-sets victors on Wednesday. (ANI)
