Wise on DL, Nix called up

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers placed right-hander Matt Wise on the 15-day disabled list Friday with ulnar neuritis in his right elbow.

The move was made retroactive to August 14.

"He threw today and it didn't feel much better," Brewers manager Ned Yost said.

Wise is 5-6 with a 3.86 ERA in 40 appearances.

Outfielder Laynce Nix was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to take Wise's spot on the roster. Nix was acquired along with Francisco Cordero, Kevin Mench and Julian Cordero from Texas for Carlos Lee and Nelson Cruz on July 28.
